The Story

You come bustling in from the city streets, sit back and realize you’re on a beach towel and the waves are lapping around you. Slowly, softly ancient music echoes from the past and you are, even if just for a few moments, somewhere else.

Share yourself in a moment with BARK and, around you, we’ll construct a mirage. In a 4-to-1 immersive, sensory experience, constructed around your tastes, you’ll find yourself waking up on the beach—only to find things vanishing like dreams and appearing like reality.

Performance B: Bespoken Moments is a four-to-one immersive experience where four performers live-construct a bespoke experience around a single audience member designed to whisk them away into another time and place.

Performed & Created by BARK:
Tierra Bonser | Ana Diaz | Sam Howard | Ruth Adams | Jennifer Bates

No photos! Why on earth not?

Because of the intimate nature of this performance no photos were taken in order to respect the privacy of participants. If you're extremely curious, you'll have to experience it first hand.  If you're curiouser and curiouser, contact me regarding programming.

It was by far one of my favorite parts of the festival.

What is live-construction?

Live-construction is a performance style and devising technique developed by BARK in 2015.  Mashing up devised performance with improvisation, live-construction is about building and arranging performance live before our audiences, tailoring content in a flexible and responsive way that is specific to the individuals experiencing it.

This type of performance thrives in the unknown and unplanned, holding audiences at the core of the work in both process and performance by consistently reconsidering the extent, meaning, and experience of liveness within a shared process of creation.
